Dear SW United
As we celebrate Mother’s Day this week, we reflect on all the women in our lives who have helped to shape us into the people we are today. Sometimes they were moms or grandmothers or aunts. Sometimes they were school teachers or Sunday School teachers or sports coaches or Scouts/Guides Leaders. Sometimes they were women who touched our lives in extraordinary ways even for just a brief moment. Today we celebrate and thank you all.
While we celebrate Mother’s Day we also recognise that for some people this can be a hard day. We pray for those who have bad relationships with their mothers, for those who had biological moms who were not motherly or caring, for those who had abusive moms, for those who have lost their moms, for those moms who have lost children, for moms whose children are far away, for those who are unable to care for their children as they would like to and for those who long to have children but are unable to. We pray for all of you and remember you on this day.
Thank you to the Messy Church kids for the pictures on our Mother’s Day cards today.
Last week I said that May was a busy month but I left off a couple of events. Firstly, Ascension Day is on Thursday 14 May and we will celebrate that our Lord and Saviour is now interceding on our behalf in heaven and will come again one day. There are two services one at 10:30 and one at 18:30.
Then on Saturday 30 May we will be hosting a Winter Craft Market. If you have craft items that you would like sell tables are available for R150 or a spot without a table for R100. There will also be tasty treats for sale. Come and support our local crafters and our fundraising team.
Lots of love
Kim
