This outreach project has been running for many years, probably about 25 years, as it first called “Social Concern” which included the “Bless the Baby” project run by Penny Prentice and it also included a “Meals Project” which reached out to the sick and bereaved families. You might also remember the shopping trolley in the back of the church where folk used to place their non perishable foodstuff. These food items were brought to the front of church where they were “blessed’ along with the collection and “piggy bank tins” filled with small change.
The need continued to grow to the extent where a budget had to be planned in order to purchase the groceries required. It operated like this for about five years and the need continued to increase to the point where an appeal had to made to the congregation for support.
The “Pantry” is now doing well and is supported faithfully by the congregation for which this ministry is very thankful. Food parcels are distributed to the needy, individuals and families, almost daily. Since February of this year we have introduced a “parcel drive” when 40 parcels on a Friday morning are distributed to the homeless living on the streets.
We are really grateful and thank everyone who has been supporting the “Pantry” for so many years and still do.
There is still however an appeal for your ongoing support, financially or in the form of products listed below.
Any and every contribution will be most appreciated.
Many thanks
Naomi Pepler
