Many people experience their private prayer as a continuing discussion with God, which is as it should be.
We also need the unifying, shared experience of public prayer for the church, the church leaders and congregation, for which there is opportunity in our congregation. In so doing we invite the Holy Spirit to release ever more of His immense power amongst us.
The present prayer ministry was started by Revs Peter Chapman and Kulekani Mseleku. The original group of fifteen men and women was known as “The foot of the cross ministry” and met in the vestry before the first services and in the evenings. A handful of that first group extended the ministry to offer prayer opportunity to congregants after the service. As still happens at present.
Over the years we have witnessed miraculous answers to prayer, such as the healing of a serious melanoma cancer, the early release of a member suffering from an excruciatingly painful inoperable disease, the healing of broken relationships between parents and children and between siblings, long totally estranged. The compelling history of this and other prayers by our ministers, the prayer ministry and congregants provides evidence of the immense power and willingness of the Holy Spirit to manifest His total love among His people and need to continue, even expand, this powerful form of worship.
